How to Connect YouTube to TV From Your Phone?

Watching YouTube on your phone is great but with more and more content the platform is designed to entertain sometimes you just want to kick back on watching it on big screen.

So here the question arises how we can make that possible? Can you guess??

Yeah, you guessed it right “Smart TV!!!”

Method 1

To get started launch the YouTube app on your TV.

1. Go to “Settings”.
2. Click on “link with TV Code”.
3. On your phone or tablet open your Account icon.
4. Tap on settings.
5. Select “Watch on TV”.
6. Under the Link with TV code section tap “Enter TV code”.
7. Enter the blue TV code and enter it on your phone or tablet.

Now you can use your phone or tablet to control your YouTube experience on TV.

Method 2

1. Make sure your TV and your Phone is connected with the same WIFI.
2. Click on the screen cast icon on the top right side of your any running YouTube video beside the subtitle icon.
3. YouTube will find and connect to devices such as your TV which shares your local network.

How to Use the YouTube app as a remote

•  Click on the screen cast icon.

•  Select Remote icon.

•  Use this remote to control your TV screen.

How to Use your Smart TV’s remote

•  Try to use TV remote to control your TV screen. Almost all TV remotes are  supported.

•  Check whether your smart TV is CEC supported if your remote fail to work. 

•  If so, follow  the instruction manual to turn on CEC.

What is CEC or HDMI CEC??

CEC stands for Consumer Electronics Control.

Devices controlling devices is commonly known as CEC i.e. the devices can have some control over the TV, and the TV can have some control over the devices.

It is a feature of the HDMI standard which is supported by a wide range of consumer and professional audio-visual devices such as televisions, display screens and media sources such as digital media streamers , Blu-ray players and game consoles.

How does it work?

HDMI-CEC allows AV devices, connected via HDMI, to communicate between one another, allowing a limited amount of control from devices to devices. Thus, providing a TV or display screen can be controlled over sources devices and source devices can have limited control over display.

Disclaimer:

Just to make life little bit more confusing manufacturers have all decided to take ownership of the function of CEC and given it their own-brand names. But despite the range of names, it’s all CEC.

It’s also worth noting that not all of these manufacturer-specific CEC interfaces are fully compatible, so don’t expect devices from different brand to always work with one another.
